About me
I’ve been cooking since the age of 6 when I made my first pot of gravy for my family, it wasn’t the best, however, my family made me feel like it was, even grandpa commented and for grandpa to put down his wine glass and speak was a feat in itself…During my younger years I’ve learned to cook by watching the female family members, using their techniques, where nothing was measured and everything was by memory. I recall asking my grandmother how to make a specific dish and she said, you add a pinch of this, a little of that, a squeeze of the other thing, roll until the size of your finger, throw in a palm full of salt. I did just that, but it wasn’t the same. I’ve learn to perfect grandma’s recipes, well almost and forty-four years later, I still use the same techniques, a pinch of this, a little of that, etc., however, now, I try to write things down for my children, trying to accurately measure but they’re still estimated. My daughters are adapting, making minor changes along the way, to adjust to their own palates. I hope you will do the same too! Remember, it may not be grandma’s but it is sure as heck close!
