I live on a magical mountain near Assisi in Umbria central Italy.  I spent a great deal of my life traveling the world and working as a scientist. One day my Dutch husband Ruurd and I have decided to leave it all and come back home.

Our home now is an ancient farmhouse perched on top of the green hills, we look outside and we see olive groves and the marvelous Basilica of Saint Francis. One never gets used to it, it's so beautiful.

We rent a few quiet rooms, we teach how to make Italian home food to visitors from all over the world, we take care of our young daughter and dog Google. Yes, she is named like the search engine because she is a truffle dog. Not that she finds any truffles, but she's cute.

We love good food in our home. Simple, fresh Italian food made from scratch with a few good quality ingredients and a drizzle of fragrant olive oil from our own trees.

All of this is a lot of work but I believe we must be some of the luckiest people on Earth.

And this is what I want to share here, the beauty of Umbria and it's marvelous food. Heaven!
