For the Pasta:
- 1 pound Cavatappi pasta
- 1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
- 1 pound Ciliegine mozzarella
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- fresh basil leaves for garnishing
For the Basil Sauce:
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
- Pasta preparation:
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of generously salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and run under cold running water.
- Transfer to a large mixing bowl and toss with the the tomatoes, mozzarella, oil and salt.
- To make the basil sauce:
- In the bowl of a food processor combine the basil and extra virgin olive oil. Purée until smooth.
- Toss with the pasta salad and chill before serving.
